Kolbackens Camping & Stugby in Åsarna is a peaceful and family-friendly campsite surrounded by nature, mountains and lakes in Jämtland.
Located close to the E45, Kolbackens Camping & Stugby is perfect both for an overnight stop and a longer stay in Jämtland and Härjedalen. Here you are close to hiking trails, fishing and activities all year round, with a convenient location between Mora, Östersund and the Vildmarksvägen route. The campsite is opened all year round and offers modern service facilities, cabins and apartments, a playground for children and is dog-friendly. Lake Hålen and the village of Åsarna, with restaurants, grocery store and services, are within walking distance.
About the campsite
Our campsite is a small, quiet campsite with approximately 15 camper pitches, caravans and tents are of course also very welcome. Guests can enjoy our shared garden with furniture (in the summar), a play area for children, as well as a cozy barbecue hut and a covered grill area by the lake. On the campsite there is a sanitary building with shower, toilet and the possibility to do the dishes, this space is heated.

Cottages
Kolbacken Stugby & Camping is beautifully and peacefully located in Åsarna Jämtland. All guests have access to the garden, a shared lounge and barbecue facilities. Our cottages feature a terrace or patio with lake and garden views. The cottages are air-conditioned and feature a seating area, a flat-screen TV with satellite channels and free Wi-Fi. The kitchen has a refrigerator, microwave, stove and kettle.
About us
We are Martijn and Monique Lamers and together with our daughter Marieke and her husband Bart and their two children, we immigrated from the Netherlands to Sweden in the summer of 2024. We started the adventure together and are now making our dream come true.
Our goal is to make our guests feel comfortable att our campsite and make their special holiday even more special.
Burger Time at Kolbackens camping!
During June, July and August, you’re warmly welcome to visit our grill hut Wednesday and Saturday evening. Enjoy a tasty burger in a cosy setting, perfect after a day of adventures, hiking or swimming.
Reservations are not required, but are appreciated. We start grilling from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Everyone is welcome, even if you are not staying at the campsite.

Activities in Jämtland all year round
Many guests who first plan an overnight stop along the E45 choose to stay several days to discover the nature and activities around Åsarna in Jämtland and Härjedalen. Here, you stay close to hiking, fishing, skiing and outdoor experiences all year round, with a convenient location between Östersund, Mora and the Vildmarksvägen route.
During summer, you can enjoy hiking trails, mountain biking, waterfalls and activities by the lake. Explore the area from the water with a SUP board or rowing boat, go swimming in the lake or try fishing. Fishing permits are available at the campsite.
In winter, the area transforms into a paradise for skiing and winter adventures. Åsarna is well known for its cross-country ski trails and its proximity to the ski resorts of Klövsjö and Vemdalen, only about 20 km away. Through local partners, we can also offer activities such as dog sledding, snowmobile safaris and snowshoe hiking.

We are close to the mountains where you will find many great trails.

You can fish or swim in the lake. We have a rowing boat that you can rent and we sell fishing permits.
